What this tool does

Reverse text character by character, flip it upside down with Unicode look-alikes, or reverse the order of its words. Reversal works on Unicode code points, so most emoji and accented letters survive intact; combining-character sequences (some flags and family emoji) can split visually. Upside-down look-alikes do not exist for every character — unmapped characters pass through unchanged.

How to use the Reverse Text Generator

  1. Enter or select text.
  2. Enter or select transformation.
  3. Read the calculated result; change any measurement to compare alternatives.

Formula

Reverse mode reverses the sequence of Unicode code points. Flip mode maps each character to an upside-down look-alike (a → ɐ, p → d, ? → ¿) and then reverses the order, which is what makes rotated text read correctly. Word mode splits on whitespace and reverses word order only.

Frequently asked questions

Reverse only changes the order of the characters, so the text reads right-to-left with normal letters. Flip also replaces each letter with an upside-down Unicode look-alike and reverses the order, so the result looks like the original rotated 180°.

Paste it into this tool and choose flip again — flipping twice returns the original text, because the transformation is its own inverse for mapped characters.

Unicode has no true upside-down copy of every letter, so the generator uses the closest look-alikes (for example W becomes M). A few characters have no reasonable match and are left as they are.

No. Word mode only reorders whole words — 'the quick brown fox' becomes 'fox brown quick the' — while the spelling and punctuation inside each word stay exactly as typed.

Yes. The transformation runs in your browser; the text you enter is never uploaded or stored.
