Fee figures are stored in our static fee table and change over time. Confirm current rates against the platform's official fee page before relying on them.

What this tool does

Enter the amount you need to land in your account and this tool solves for the invoice amount that leaves exactly that much after PayPal's percentage and fixed fee are deducted.

How to use the Reverse PayPal Fee Calculator

  1. Enter the net amount you want to receive.
  2. Choose the PayPal transaction type.
  3. Select domestic or international.
  4. Invoice the 'Amount to charge' figure.

Formula

Charge = (N + f) ÷ (1 − r − i)
N
Net amount you want
f
Fixed fee
r
Percentage rate
i
International surcharge

Adding the fee percentage to the target (N × 1.0349) undercharges, because the fee is also taken from the added amount.

Frequently asked questions

Divide your target plus the fixed fee by one minus the percentage rate. For $100 at 3.49% + $0.49 that is $104.13.

PayPal also charges its percentage on the amount you added, so simply adding 3.49% leaves you a few cents short.

PayPal's user agreement and some US state laws restrict surcharges. Many sellers build the fee into their price instead.

Yes — choose 'International' and the extra 1.5% is included in the solve.

The same formula works; use the Stripe Fee Calculator, which also reverses fees.
