Frequently asked questions
Multiply cost by one plus the markup decimal: $25 × 1.6 = $40 for a 60% markup.
A 100% markup — doubling the cost — common in retail. It equals a 50% margin.
Margin = markup ÷ (1 + markup). A 60% markup is a 37.5% margin.

It depends on industry and overhead; retail often uses 50–100%, restaurants 200–400% on drinks.
