What this tool does
KDP pays ebook royalties under two options: 35% of the list price (excluding VAT), or 70% of the list price minus a per-unit delivery cost based on file size, in eligible territories. Print books pay up to 60% of the list price minus the printing cost, which is a fixed charge plus a per-page charge for your page count.

Frequently asked questions
On the 70% ebook option, a $9.99 book with a 3 MB file earns about $6.54 per sale after the roughly $0.45 delivery cost. The 35% option pays $3.50 on the same book with no delivery deduction.
When your book is priced outside the 70% band, sold in a territory where 70% isn't offered, or has a very large file (e.g. image-heavy) whose delivery cost would eat the higher rate.
A per-sale charge based on file size under the 70% option — around $0.15 per MB in the US store, varying by marketplace. Amazon cites an average of roughly $0.06 per unit across all books.
60% of the list price minus the printing cost. Printing cost is a fixed per-book charge plus page count times a per-page rate, both set by trim size, ink and paper in KDP's print cost tables.
Print royalties differ for expanded distribution channels, and ebook royalties are calculated on the price actually paid. Check the royalty line in your KDP reports for a specific sale.
