What this tool does

Enter two names and get a love compatibility percentage. The score is a deterministic name hash — the same two names always score the same. For entertainment only. Entertainment only. The score measures how the letters of two names hash together — it says nothing about real people or real relationships.

How to use the Love Calculator

  1. Enter or select first name.
  2. Enter or select second name.
  3. Read the calculated result; change any measurement to compare alternatives.

Formula

The two names are normalised (trimmed, lowercased, order-independent) and run through an FNV-1a hash; the hash modulo 101 gives a score from 0 to 100. No randomness: the same pair always hashes to the same percentage.

Worked example

Sample result: Alex and Priya always return the same percentage on this page — try it twice and compare, then swap the name order and it still matches, because the pair is sorted before hashing. Change one letter of either name, though, and the hash — and the score — can jump anywhere in the 0–100 range.

Frequently asked questions

It is entertainment, not a relationship assessment. The percentage is a deterministic hash of the two names' letters — fun to share, meaningless as a prediction. Real compatibility depends on the people, not their names.

Unlike the random generators on this site, the love calculator uses no randomness at all: it hashes the two names, and a hash always maps the same input to the same output. That consistency is the game's charm — a couple's score is 'theirs'.

No. The names are sorted before hashing, so Alex + Priya and Priya + Alex give the identical score. Capitalisation and surrounding spaces are also ignored.

Yes — any change to the letters changes the hash, so 'Catherine' and 'Katherine' paired with the same partner can score completely differently. Use the spelling each person actually goes by.

The normalised pair (names joined, order-independent) runs through an FNV-1a 32-bit hash, and the result modulo 101 becomes the score. It is deliberately simple and fully reproducible — you can verify the same pair anywhere on this page.
