What this tool does
Applies the federal 5% GST plus the provincial component — HST in participating provinces, PST, RST or QST elsewhere — from a static provincial rate table. Provincial taxes here are calculated on the net price, as each province now does.

Frequently asked questions

Alberta and the three territories — Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon — charge only the 5% GST.
QST is 9.975% calculated on the price before GST, so the combined rate is 14.975%.
Divide by 1 plus the rate. A $113 Ontario total ÷ 1.13 = $100 net and $13 HST.
Small suppliers with taxable revenue of $30,000 or less over four consecutive quarters generally do not have to register. Check the Canada Revenue Agency rules for your situation.
