What this tool does
Calculate the total landed cost of an import — goods, freight, insurance, your duty rate and fees — and the landed cost per unit. Duty is calculated on the CIF base (goods + freight + insurance). Rates are user-entered only; tariff classification is product- and origin-specific and changes over time.
How to use the Landed Cost Calculator
- Enter or select goods value (invoice).
- Enter or select international freight.
- Enter or select insurance.
- Enter or select import duty rate (%) — your rate, from your tariff classification.
- Enter or select other fees (brokerage, port, handling).
- Enter or select units in shipment.
- Read the calculated result; change any measurement to compare alternatives.
Formula
duty base (CIF) = goods + freight + insurance; duty = base × duty rate; total landed cost = base + duty + other fees

Frequently asked questions
Landed cost = goods value + international freight + insurance + import duty + other fees (brokerage, port and handling charges). Here duty is charged on the CIF base — goods + freight + insurance — which is the customs valuation basis in most countries.
That depends on your product's tariff classification and origin — and this calculator deliberately has NO rate database, because published lookup tables go stale and misclassification is costly. Look up your current rate from your customs authority or broker and enter it; the arithmetic is done for you.
CIF = cost (goods) + insurance + freight to the destination port. In the worked example, $1,000 goods + $200 freight + $20 insurance gives a $1,220 duty base, so a 10% duty is $122 and the total landed cost is $1,342 before any other fees.
In the US, customs value is generally the transaction value of the goods (international freight/insurance are usually not dutiable), while the EU and many others use CIF. This tool uses the CIF base — if your regime duties goods only, enter freight and insurance as 0 in the duty sense by adjusting the goods/freight split, and check with your broker.
Customs brokerage, port/terminal handling, duty itself, merchandise processing or harbour fees where they apply, and the domestic leg to your warehouse if you want a true per-unit cost. Add them in the Other fees field; divide by units for a per-unit landed cost.
