What this tool does
Upwork replaced its old sliding and flat fees with a variable freelancer service fee that ranges from 0% to 15% and is set per contract. This calculator defaults to 10% — the rate Upwork uses in its own worked example — but you should enter the exact rate shown on your contract, because two contracts can carry different rates.
How to use the Upwork Fee Calculator

Yes — Upwork moved from the old 20%/10%/5% lifetime-billing tiers to a flat 10%, and then to the current variable 0–15% model. Older guides quoting the sliding scale are out of date.

The rate is set per contract and can vary with factors Upwork doesn't publish individually. Two active contracts can legitimately show different percentages.
